Self-portrait, 2020
Joshua Wann - Director of Photography
My work spans high-end commercials, narrative films, branded content, and music videos. I’m drawn to the visual language of cinematography. From choosing the right tools, to shaping light and shadow, and using all of those decisions to support the emotion behind the story.
This path has taken me all over the world, from Tokyo’s city streets to an Ethiopian prison. I’m just as comfortable working with C-suite execs as I am with the incarcerated. Wherever I am, I’m after the same thing: the humanity at the heart of the story.
I actually stumbled into filmmaking by accident. As a music producer and record label owner, I bought a camera to shoot videos for my artists. One project led to another, and before long, I found myself falling in love with a new creative lane.

Producing musicians taught me how to guide a vision and bring the best out of people. These skills translate directly to life on set as a DP. Whether I’m capturing an interview or shaping a performance, my focus is on elevating both the story and the people involved. For me, I love the process of making a video, as much as the video itself.
